Behavioral Health Services

Personalized support that helps eligible individuals develop, maintain, or improve skills needed to live more independently in the home and community. Examples may include support with daily routines, communication, decision-making, community participation, and building independent living skills.

Support that helps eligible individuals live successfully at home, with family or natural supports, and participate more fully in the community. Examples may include skill-building, community activities, social engagement, daily living support, and assistance working toward goals in the person-centered plan.

Short-term support that gives caregivers temporary relief while ensuring the eligible individual continues to receive safe and supportive care. Examples may include supervision, companionship, support with daily needs, and assistance in the home or community. NC Medicaid describes respite as breaks for the individual and caregivers.

Item descrRecovery-focused support provided by a trained peer with lived experience who offers encouragement, skill-building, advocacy, and support with wellness and recovery goals. Examples may include mentoring, coping strategies, goal setting, self-advocacy, and connecting to community resources. Peer Support must be provided by certified peer support staff.
